MICKEY ALLISON - CAPTAIN

 

Sailing has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I grew up cruising in the San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands with my father Ted Allison who competed in three Whitbread races and had a long career in ocean racing.

 

Since then, I have logged over 1,000 days at sea on a variety of boats. Starting at age 15 I worked as deckhand for 6 years on the custom 77’ performance sloop Cascadia. Then at age 22, I started captaining the 74’ old maxi ketch Atalanta, I held that position for two years. Over the last eight years I have worked in many different locations around the world as a charter captain. I have competed in the 2015 LA to Cabo Race, and the 2016 Vic Maui Race, and many other inshore races. I recently captained a new 55ft Bali from the factory in France across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. I navigated the majority of that voyage using only celestial navigation.

I'm a PADI certified Diver Master, ASA Sailing Instructor, and I love skiing/snowboarding, music festivals, and outdoor adventure.

SOFIA DEAMBROSI - CHEF/MATE

I am an adventurous, ambitious and passionate soul; always ready for a challenge and embrace change with true grit.  Which is why I gave up the stock exchange for the seas of change!

 

I have been a lover of the sea from a young age and have always remained close to it. I am extremely hard working, resilient, and responsible. Having led and been part of sports teams my entire life, I believe in the power of unity and the importance of loyalty and empathy, which helped me captain a team of 4 women rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in 2020.

 

I have been a chef on a private 97' sailing yacht as well as a Bali 5.4 charter yacht and love to create healthy and tasty meals.  I look forward to making memories with guests that last a lifetime.

 

I am also fluent in English and Spanish.

March Dragon has many water toys and exciting activities to enjoy on your vacation.  Whether you are looking to seek adventure, see nature, or just relax, you can find it here.  And because the water can be a bit brisk during the winter we are equipped with several men's and women's wet suits for guest enjoyment too!

You are in for a treat!

 

Every dragon needs a Wizard…and our chef fits the bill!  She prepares delicious, nutritious, culinary creations, using healthy fresh ingredients. Get excited, she’s planning 3 beautiful meals a day, just for you, plus snacks and desserts too.  While she is working her magic in the kitchen, you will never go hungry and she will happily accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and other requests.  She also makes artisan pizzas with a fast fire pizza oven and homemade ice cream onboard as well!

Beverages:

Fresh fruit juices, drip coffee and gourmet French press, iced tea, a variety of hot teas, refreshing spa water with limes, cucumbers, and other flavor enhancers, sodas, wine with dinner, and a standard ships bar with mixers that includes Tito's vodka, Bacardi rum, Sailor Jerry's spiced rum, Malibu rum, Bombay Sapphire gin, Herradura reposado tequila, Jim Beam bourbon, and Johnnie Walker Red scotch.  Specialty and premium alcohols can be requested separately for an additional fee.
